Adkalis is a French company recognized for its expertise in the formulation, manufacturing, and marketing of products dedicated to the protection, preservation, and maintenance of materials, particularly wood. Built on a long-standing industrial tradition, the company has been contributing for decades to the development of high-performance products that meet the expectations of professionals, from the construction sector to material processing industries.
Since late 2023, Adkalis’ activities, know-how, and teams have been integrated into Groupe Berkem as part of an internal merger of its four subsidiaries (Eurolyo, Lixol, Berkem & Adkalis).
The history of what would become Adkalis began in 1964 with the creation of Sarpap (Société d’Application et de Recherches de Produits Anti-Parasitaires), a company founded to develop wood protection solutions against biological and climatic threats.
Over time, the company grew and structured itself around formulation chemistry, integrating various specialized activities and brands through external growth (such as Cecil Industrie and Xylophène Industrie). These entities were ultimately brought together under the Adkalis name in 2017, reflecting a strategy to unify expertise and product ranges.
Adkalis has been recognized as a major player in the formulation of solutions for wood and construction professionals, with an offering that includes preventive and curative fungicidal and insecticidal treatments, fire-retardant and water-repellent protection products, as well as decorative and maintenance solutions. The company has also developed formulations incorporating biomass-derived raw materials, as part of an approach aimed at reducing dependence on fossil resources and aligned with today’s environmental challenges.
In December 2023, Adkalis was fully integrated into Groupe Berkem, alongside the group’s other historic companies.
Although Adkalis no longer exists as an independent company, the core of its activities and expertise lives on within Groupe Berkem Formulation expertise for material protection, particularly wood, is now integrated into the group’s Construction & Materials and Hygiene & Protection business areas.
Thanks to this integration, Adkalis’ historic solutions continue to be offered to professionals, while benefiting from strengthened synergies with the Group’s other areas of expertise in materials science, formulation chemistry, and plant-based chemistry.
The story of Adkalis illustrates the evolution of industrial know-how and how it can adapt to technological and environmental challenges while remaining focused on the needs of professionals. Today, this heritage continues within Groupe Berkem, where it contributes to an expanded portfolio of technical, sustainable, and innovative solutions for the protection and durability of materials, particularly wood.
